GeSHi is very cool source code syntax highlighter. It supports the whole bunch of the languages. GeSHi written in PHP, so obviously the best way to use it is to setup it directly on the website. And of cause there are numerous plugins for Drupal, Joomla, WordPress and so on.
The cool thing about GeSHi being install on the server is – the source code is stored in the plain text, this is the key difference with the pre-publish highlighters, which compiles HTML in the desktop clients making the source code hard to read (or sometimes even find) inside HTML
